Heavy Equipment Machining Services

At the center of what we do lies our heavy equipment machining services. This is not the kind of machining you find in a typical job shop. We specialize in working with parts that are measured in feet rather than inches and weighed in tons rather than pounds. Our facility is equipped to handle oversized castings, housings and structural components that require a combination of strength and dimensional accuracy. 

When we machine a large component, we are dealing with significant physical forces. The machines themselves need to be incredibly rigid to prevent deflection or chatter during deep cuts.  If a cutter deflects even a few thousandths of an inch during a pass on a large bearing housing, the resulting part might not assemble correctly. We account for the physical realities of machining large metal, like thermal expansion, tool wear and the sheer weight of the workpiece.  This requires a different approach to setup and operation than smaller, more delicate work.

Machining for the Construction Industry

Construction equipment operates in some of the most punishing environments. Excavators, bulldozers and cranes are expected to move tons of material daily, often in dusty or muddy conditions. The components that make up their powertrains and suspension systems must absorb massive shock loads. We machine these extreme parts, such as main bearing caps, suspension components, cases, covers and housings. 

The ability to hold tight tolerances on large parts is essential for modern construction equipment.  We often produce components that are part of a hydraulic system or a drivetrain, where even a slight deviation in a bore diameter can cause seal failure or excessive wear. Our setup and machining processes are designed to guarantee that every surface and hole is located correctly relative to the others.
