QUALITY MANAGER
JOB SUMMARY
Establishes, implements and maintains effective quality systems in accordance with ISO 9001-2015 to assure and improve product quality and integrity as perceived by customers. Reports on the performance of the quality system in meeting defined goals as a basis for continuous improvement and for reducing quality costs. Defines overall scope of quality function. Manages all activity associated with new gauge quotes and acquisition.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY
- Establishes and implements Quality Assurance policies, procedures and instructions in accordance with required standards (QS-9002/ISO 9001-2015)
- Manages the internal audit program per documented procedures.
- Prepares periodic reports on customer complaints, quality programs and other quality related issues as part of the management review process.
- Prepares the budget for the Quality Department for the Annual Financial Plan.
- Manages the Supplier Quality Assurance activities, including reporting on supplier performance.
- Tracks non-conforming material and coordinates activities that focus on preventative, long-term corrective.
- Manages and ensures the proper use of quality tools such as SPC, APQP, FMEA, control plans and measurement systems analysis.
- Conducts designed experiments, statistical problem solving and advanced product quality planning, when required.
- Responds to customer concerns with formal short-term and long-term corrective actions developed with the appropriate cross-functional teams.
- Provides plant support for lean manufacturing, continuous improvement and manufacturing excellence efforts, such as Kaizen, JIT, Value Analysis, DFMA, etc.
- Coordinates, obtains and evaluates technical and business data and information through membership and participation in appropriate trade and professional organizations to keep management informed of current and pending developments which may affect the company’s interests.
- Facilities problem solving and corrective actions with appropriate departments, including verification of the implemented solutions.
- Ensures that appropriate resources are in place for verification activities, including internal quality audits.
- Designs, implements and maintains a quality operating system.
- Provides cost estimates for gauges for new product quotes and coordinates the procurement of gauges for new products.
- Chairperson of the safety committee.
- Responsible for adherence to all company safety and housekeeping rules.
SKILL AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree level of knowledge in a related discipline, plus 5 years of direct quality assurance experience. Knowledge of manufacturing operations with precision machined products industry, with demonstrable managerial skills in organizing, analyzing, planning and communications. Should have direct experience in meeting the requirements of QS-9002/ISO-9001-2015 based quality systems. Must possess thorough knowledge of manufacturing operations plus “hands-on” skills in problem solving, statistical methods, GD&T, advanced product quality planning, and continuous improvement.
